    What’s In This Program?

Fundamentals of Leaves (part 1):  Leaves of Absence ranks as the #1 issue HR professionals struggle with, particularly in California.  With the wide array of acronyms and with California variations, it is no wonder.  In this fundamentals course, we will provide the foundation-level knowledge every HR professional in California needs.  We will cover FMLA, CFRA, PDL, SDI, PFL, USERRA, and miscellaneous California leaves.  Specifically, we will review covered employers, employees, reasons for leave, duration of a leave, intermittent leaves, leave-related benefits, job reinstatement, notices, and reasonable accommodation. After this fundamentals course, we dive into applying your knowledge to real-world hypothetical situations dealing with:

    Medical Leaves (part 2)

    Family Leaves (part 3)

    Pregnancy Leaves (part 4)

Learn through real-world scenarios that you may encounter and find out specifically how to handle the leave, understand expectations, communicate appropriately to the employee, provide the appropriate notices and know what you can and cannot do. Through the hypothetical situations, the following will be reviewed: covered employee, eligible employee, reasons for leave, amount of leave, benefits of the leave, job reinstatement and more.
