    Our Research Services department publishes 5 reports each year covering California HR practices and compensation levels. The survey program contains data over 700 job classifications ranging from hourly to executive positions and over 40 HR topics including group medical practices, pension plans, vacation polices, educational reimbursement, etc.

    EOS FAQ

    Q. Is an online employee opinion survey right for your organization?
    A. An Employee Opinion Survey is used to assess an organization’s strengths, weaknesses, and issues affecting employee morale and organizational performance. The results allow companies to develop an effective and engaging management program, prepare their organization for change, and understand what employees value in their work life.

    Q. I would like to deploy an Employee Opinion Survey, but not all my employees have access to a computer to take it, can we still use the survey?
    A. Yes! The EOS can be sent via paper and online, however additional costs may apply for data input.

    Q. Can an EOS be translated into a language other than English?
    A. Yes, we can translate the survey into another language if needed.

    Q. I’m not sure how to communicate to my employees the process of an EOS, can you help?
    A. Included in the annual EOS package that comes with the membership are numerous templates that help you communicate to your employees the launch, completion, and results of the EOS.

    Sample Engagements

    Multi-state food distributor, $250 million in sales, 90 Employees

    • Needs: Document and advance an upgrade to current program, including base compensation for hourly, executives, and sales force; design a competitive sales compensation strategy; cost analysis of employee benefit program.
    • Services provided: A Total Rewards Cost Analysis, restructured the company’s compensation program and introduced a market driven bonus program, advanced internal and external equity strategies to alleviated low employee moral; articulated all costs within the organization’s ROI needs.

    Non-profit Agency, $8 million operating budget, 95 Employees

    • Needs: To meet federal funding guidelines, audit the agency’s compensation program, conduct a job evaluation, and market price staff and executive positions through a custom industry-specific compensation survey.
    • Services: Benefits Cost Analysis, job evaluation, custom survey of 250 agencies with 56 respondents; provided a detailed report of custom analysis of executive compensation practices and guidelines.

    350 employee non-profit agency; $45 million operating budget

    • Needs: To meet federal guidelines for pay practices, estimate the existing pay levels for 45 positions (including executives) within the agency’s labor market.
    • Services: Designed online and hardcopy questionnaire customized to agency’s job descriptions; identified 250 agencies within the targeted labor market and executed a survey; outreach efforts for maximum participation in survey included several phone calls, emails, etc. leading to 60 participants and a detailed report which the agency introduced to federal agencies as evidence of existing market conditions.

    550 employee manufacturing company, $75 million in revenue

    • Needs: Complete overhaul of the organization’s compensation program, including job evaluation, market pricing, total rewards cost analysis, pay strategy, evaluation of employee benefit program, employee utilization census analysis, and introduction of new plan to match the organization’s key talent pool and skill set.
    • Services: Total Rewards Strategy, face-to-face meetings with executive team and all key managers; benchmarked the organization’s benefit and HR programs, extracted total labor costs, and measured company’s employee investment via EG’s proprietary set of HR metrics. Implemented this as a long-term solution and recommended a total rewards strategy to allow the company to fund employee’s payroll to meet market levels and reduce their labor costs $200k (by modifying their existing employee leave program); included training modules and administrative support to implement recommended changes.

    FAQs

    Q. I am a new member, what surveys come with my membership?

    A. New members receive the following set of surveys:

    • Regional Wage (Nonexempt) Survey

    Other surveys available through purchase include:

    The best way to keep your compensation and HR reports current is through participation. As a member of the Employers Group, you will automatically be invited to participate in all of the surveys. In some cases the surveys might not apply to your company or business; however, we encourage your participation in as many surveys as possible. The strength of the survey program rests on your participation.

    Q. What happens if I am not able to participate and need the survey?
    A. Survey reports are available to non-participating members for a nominal fee. For pricing please call (213) 765-3920.

    Q. I participated in a survey, when can I expect to receive the final report?
    A. Generally, final survey reports are distributed to participants two months after we stop collecting information. Unless other arrangements are made, all survey reports are made available online.

    Q. How do I access the final report online?
    A. For each company that buys or participates in one of our surveys, we setup the company with a Comp Solutions Portal. Here, you can access all the reports you are entitled to in addition to the previous data you have provided. We can give as many individual login credentials to the Portal as a company may need.

    Q. I have many surveys to participate in throughout the year, how can you make it easy for me to participate?
    A. At Employers Group, we value your contribution to our surveys, so we will do what we can to accommodate your needs. There are a few ways to participate in our surveys. 1) We have an online form that you can complete. When you complete the online form you will need to enter in each applicable position title and match it to our provided job titles; enter in the base salary, minimum & maximum salary, as well as any bonus information. 2) We have an excel template that contains the minimum required fields that you can complete and send via email. 3) Simply download your employee census and send it over, we will do the work for you!

    Once you provide data for your survey we will make it available via your Comp Solutions Portal. That way you can make individual updates & track the information you’ve submitted. You can participate by editing the information in your portal, or we can apply a percentage increase for you.

    Q. Do I need to request questionnaires to participate in the survey program?
    A. No. All members are invited to participate in all of our surveys. Invitations are always emailed to the main survey contact in every member firm. Call or e-mail us to change or update your firm’s survey contact or to send you the link for participation.

    Q. I work for a privately-held company and the owners are very sensitive about participating in compensation surveys -is our participation confidential?
    A. Yes. You can participate and remain anonymous. We do not share or disclose participation to other members or non-members. We also do not sell collected survey data to other organizations for external marketing purposes. All survey data is treated with the utmost confidentiality and at no time will data be furnished in any form so as the identity of the member firm can be revealed.

    Q. I am a new member and I would like to participate in the survey program, but I need time to learn the different surveys that are available. How soon do I have to start participating to obtain credit for the surveys?
    A. We encourage new members to participate in any open survey. Survey reports are available to non-participating members for a nominal fee.

    Q. We are a small company and we can only provide data for a few jobs, can we still participate?
    A. Yes. Our survey program is diverse and we invite and encourage participation from small to large size firms. Even if you can only match data for a few jobs, we can still use your data to estimate current market rates.

    Q. We do not have a formal compensation program. Can you still use our data in the survey program?
    A. Yes. Our surveys are designed so participation is based on matching a job description to an existing job. Although a formal compensation program might simplify your participation, you can still submit data even if your program is not part of a formal compensation process.

    Employers Group’s HR Assessment outlines how your company is doing in five key areas: Compliance, HR Processes & Management, Employee Motivation, HR Sourcing, and Recruitment. The 30-question assessment is designed to provide you with information on how your HR practices compare to best practices of other companies.

    After you complete the survey:

    • Get access to a summarized report upon completion.
    • Get an in-depth and detailed scorecard provided by one of our professional consultants within three business days.

    Your participation in the Assessment is confidential and will not be shared with any outside agency or group.

    2017 Executive & Middle Management Total Compensation Survey:

    This survey encompasses data submitted by California firms for 39 Executive and 147 mid-management classifications. The survey results for each position include current base salary, bonus and other cash compensation, total compensation, salary ranges, and actual versus targeted bonuses.     2017 Professional and Sales Personnel Compensation Survey:

    This survey encompasses data submitted by California firms for 68 Professional (administrative & sales) non management positions. The survey covers all information relative to base, salary ranges, and additional compensation. Geographic differentials and aging/maturing formulas are also included.     2017 Regional Wage (nonexempt) Survey:

    This survey encompasses data submitted by California firms for over 156 statewide nonexempt surveyed classifications.     2018 HR Budgets & Human Capital Benchmarks Survey:
