What these 56 companies don’t know is the amount of paperwork and administration they must undertake to receive the funds is burdensome. As a member of Employers Group, you can receive access to state training funds through Employers Group’s contract with the state—and we handle all the details for you. Whether you conduct your own training program or use one of ours, we’ll pay you either way. Employers Group is currently making arrangements for members to use its state-funded training program to subsidize training projects that your company will deliver to your employees in the months ahead. Q: Should I protest a UI claim if it is past the due date? A: Yes, the information may still be needed by Employment Development Department (EDD) in determining if the claimant is eligible for UI benefits; however, without stating a good reason for protesting a claim late you will not be entitled to receive a determination and/or ruling and may be subject to charges in the future. Q: What are considered good reasons for protesting a UI claim late? A: Generally, mistake, inadvertence, excusable neglect resulting in minimal delay with no prejudice to another party is considered good cause. The more substantial the delay the more substantial must be the explanation for the delay. If you have good cause for the delay even though EDD disagrees, you can appeal your case to the appeals board. Did you do harassment training in 2005? If so, then you will need to provide mandatory harassment prevention training for your supervisory employees (at a minimum), including your executives, in 2007. Individual deadlines for completing your mandatory training will vary based upon using the training year approach (most common), individual tracking method or a combination of the two.
